The Impact of Climatic Factors on PM2.5 and PM10 Levels in Târgu Mureș, Transylvania

Abstract:
This study examines the relationship between climatic factors (temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure) and PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations in the urban area of Târgu Mureș, using data collected between August 2021 and November 2024 (1,091 effective days). Results indicate that higher humidity and atmospheric pressure increase PM2.5 and PM10 levels, while temperature has a significant negative effect. Correlations between PM2.5 and PM10 suggest a simultaneous rise during winter periods, highlighting the influence of weather conditions on urban air quality. This research contributes to understanding the determinants of air pollution and supports the implementation of measures to improve quality of life.
